Hungarian Slovak Gypsies in America

The Hungarian Slovak Gypsies started to settle in the Delray area of Detroit in the 1930s. The first of these Roma to move to Detroit was William Hallup who was the cimbalom player in Henry Fords Old Fashion Dance Band back in the 1920s. The young Braddock, Pa Roma where now the new Hungarian Slovak Gypsies of Detroit.
A large population of Roma also lived in the Lincoln Park area. All the Roma eventually moved to the Dearborn area.
